TANP and NAP Project
Over view of Activities
The Department was engaged in Preservation and Conservation of Dutch Records under the TANAP (Towards New Age of Partnership) Project (I and II) and preservation and publishing Dutch records under the NAP Project (Netherlands Assistance Programme) from 2006 update. These projects aim to preserve all the documents for the future generations. These records provide information regarding culture, commercial aspects political background and social environment at the period. These records were preserved under the programme, for the cultural identity of Sri Lanka and the Netherlands.

- Computerization of finding aids for Dutch records
- Colombo Tombo indices
- Galle Tombo indices
Checking and Computerization of Colombo and Galle Tombo Indices which was started with TANP assistance continued under this project.
- Publishing of finding aids for Dutch records
- Colombo Tombo indices
- Galle Tombo indices
- Editing, Translating and Publishing of two important Dutch records.
- Translation of Dutch Tombos in to English and Native languages
- Technical Assistance in enhancing facilities in the Search Room and public Relations section of the Department of National Archives.
- Training in 17th and 18th century Dutch language, Records Management, Preservation and Conservation of Archival Material.
- Prof. K.D. Paranavitana conducted lectures of the 17th and 18th century Dutch language for the officers of this Department. About 15 officers from the Department were trained under this activity.
- Officers were trained in Records Management, Preservation and Conservation of Records and Reprography, National Archives of India.

- Computerization of the VOC Tombos and Dr. Albert van Belt conducted lectures of the Dutch language for the officers of this Department
